A week's guided walking in southern Bavaria with Ramblers Holidays. My flights were with Lufthansa from Manchester to Munchen. We stayed in the 4 Star Schillingshof Hotel in the village of Bad Kohlgrub. There were 6 days of walking, I chose to start at the easier Grade 4, did Grade 6 on Day 2 but aggravated a recent muscle injury so took a rest day on Day 3. The weather was generally sunny with a cool breeze. Perfect for walking. The scenery is superb - the grass covering is well watered and rich, idea for cows and sheep. The mountains are mainly covered by evergreen trees. The walking was good and generally hazard-free on the Grade 4 routes. I did around XX miles in total. I tried to practise my German in shops and in the hotel and enjoyed the challenge! |
