Day 2 (Tuesday 20 October)

Today's walk was a loop from the HF house 'Peveril of the Peak' to the village of Tissington, led by Chris Prince.

In this picture we descend to the immaculate village of Tissington having walked along the Limestone Way from Thorpe.
The Sycamore Inn opposite the village green.
Joe and I called in for a pint before lunch.
After lunch some of the group stayed in Tissington for a cuppa while the rest of us took the Tissington Trail south-west back to Thorpe and then back to the house.
Tissington is a lovely unspoilt village.
It is part of the estate of Tissington Hall, owned by the FitzHerbert family since 1465.
Day 3 (Wednesday 21 October)

Today, the walk was led by Isobel. We headed northwest in the dullness over the high pastures heading for Milldale.
On the way we passed through a farm and saw these cute calves in a shelter. I hoped they weren't due for the dinner table.
There are many cattle in this part of the country. The grass is rich and well watered.
In this picture we are on the high ground just before the descent into Milldale.

Milldale is a tiny hamlet near a stone bridge over the River Dove.
I've been here before, I always buy a coffee from the little kiosk around the corner.
There are always about a dozen Mallards on the river, which get well fed by the tourists.
Day 4 (Thursday 22 October)

The walk today took us in a loop passing through Ilam and heading west to the village of Calton where we had lunch in the church yard.
Here we are heading over the fields back to Ilam Park.
Near the end of the walk we head uphill from Dovedale towards the village of Thorpe.
On the same track as the last photo. The view is so nice, with the shades of green pastures, the clouds and the sun casting shadows.
Day 5 (Friday 23 October)

Today was the end of the holiday, though while most of the 16 in the group headed home, Joe led a small circular walk starting in the village of Alstonefield.

This is the view across Dove Dale looking towards the high ground we walked on on Wednesday.
Heading down hill, here are Graham, Lynn, Joe and Jane.
There were only the five of us on this final walk.
Joe heading down to the river.

After the walk we all headed home.
I led a convoy of three cars to the M1 then we went our own ways.
