(1) Below: Climbing down an iron ladder on part one of the Via Ferrata with Honister Pass in the valley below.
(2) Below: Me and Tod ascending the rock face on the iron staples.
(3) Below: Just to show we are actually enjoying this experience!
(4) Below: The second section of the route involved working our way around a vertical rock face in a small ravine. Here, Nic attempts the toughest bit which was involved leaning back from vertical on some of the hand holds.
(5) Below: Tod completes the second section as I approach the toughest bit.
(6) Below: And now my turn to complete the tough bit.
(7) Below: Here I'm crossing a bridge made from three rails. It was a bit tricker than it looked.
(8) Below: The completion of the Via Ferrata Classic saw us on the summit of 'Black Star', with the slightly higher 'Fleetwith Pike' behind. This lovely view has Buttermere and Crummock Water in the right background. We were Roisin, Rik, Tod, Greg and Nic.
(9) Below: A close-up our intrepid group; our guide, Steve said he was impressed by our competence as a group. It was fun and maybe we'll do the harder, Via Ferrata Extreme next!
