South Pacific Trip, May 2019

(5) Cairns, Australia, Photo Gallery

Friday 24th May 2019.
The final leg to Australia.
We arrived at the wharf in Cairns early in the morning.
After sorting out luggage, going through immigration on shore and putting luggage into the hold of the coach, we set off on a tour of Cairns.
First stop was for an hour or so at the pretty suburb of Palm Cove. The name says it all - a pleasant retreat for the wealthy and a popular tourist area.
The jetty just off the golden beach is popular with fishermen and women and a good place for a breezy stroll.
After Palm Cove, where I enjoyed a coffee, we continued in the coach to the Botanic Gardens.
There were art exhibitions, coffee shops and of course the gardens.
I did a bit of everything here, the gardens were like virgin tropical rain forest and very clean - no litter, like everywhere in this attractive city.
Bamboo and lots of it on the nature trail.
The river which flows through the Gardens and out to the sea.
We had a communal lunch at Dundees of the Water. Afterwards I walked around the marina. The coach appeared again at 3 pm and took those of us who were returning to London to the airport.
Not looking forward to the hours of flying, but there's a lot to look back on after an amazing holiday in the South Pacific.
